The program launched in 2010 as "SSE Labs" and was part of Stanford Student Enterprises, the business arm of Stanford student government. StartX was founded in 2009 by Cameron Teitelman, who was a Stanford undergraduate at that time, and a team of other Stanford students. StartX provides founders with educational programming, a three-tier mentoring system, office space, access to a talented network of industry partners and other resources. It builds a community of innovation where the best entrepreneurs can flourish and develop through experiential learning and collective intelligence.
